Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with perfect toes and feet. Nails can become damaged over the years from trauma – footwear, sports, trolley/buggies, etc, can all have an impact on nail growth. Nails can become thickened and misshapen making them harder to cut.
Callouses occur from how we walk and the shape of our feet and toes. Areas of pressure and constant friction underneath the foot can cause callus to build over time. Corns are formed on areas of high pressure and can be found on the sole of the foot or on top or between the toes. They can become quite painful especially in certain shoes or when walking barefoot.
There are many different causes of foot pain, and not just Plantar Fasciitis. The foot has 26 bones and many more tendons, ligaments and muscles that hold the bones together and allows movement. Pain can occur from tissue trauma, bone trauma or from a medical condition. There are different ways of managing, supporting, and reducing foot pain.
This pesky annoying embarrassing virus can be picked up mostly from wet areas such as gym/sport area shower rooms and can take up to 9 months to materialise on your skin. The plantar wart/verruca can occur around your toes and the sole of your feet. There are 3 different type of plantar verruca – Type 1, 2 and 4, with Type 1 being the most painful and normally found underneath a joint.
Your first appointment is 45mins long. This gives time to conduct a full assessment including medical conditions, medications, skin, neurological and vascular. Treatment options will be discussed along with your general footcare needs and a plan going forward created. You will receive treatment at this appointment.
Before attending you may be emailed a New Patient Form to be completed prior to your appointment or you can fill one in when you arrive. Please bring with you a medications list. It is essential to have your medical history, so please fill it in honestly.
